It seems that nary five weeks ago we here at Barratts were paying our sad farewell tribute to Girls Aloud, perhaps the best British girl group of their generation. This week came the (nearly) equally as devastating development that the (second) most successful group to ever graduate from the X Factor, JLS, have too decided to part ways.
It’s a double whammy in a short period of time which is sure to have a negative impact on the pop charts but thankfully both groups have left a heck of a legacy behind them. Not only did the erstwhile Jack the Lad Swing pave the way for One Direction and present to the world an oeuvre including Beat Again and Everybody In Love (which always made me feel sad for the inevitable sole concert attendee who, in good consciousness, couldn’t raise their arm, adding to the melancholy of the situation), the fabulous foursome also gifted us some sartorial inspiration which should last well beyond the JLS candle finally burning out.
So we bid them a found adieu for now (until their inevitable reunion on an ITV2 show in 5 years), place the good times in our hearts and remember how JLS sound-tracked the last few years of our lives; making the bad times good and the good times better. In lieu of audio, here’s our tribute to the sartorial compositions JLS bestowed upon the world and, more importantly, how to replicate their look at Barratts.
